The Translation • The Project Manager, having entrusted the qualified translator with the translation ensures that the instructions have been understood • After reading the source text, the translator asks any necessary questions • Where necessary, the translator points out any discrepancy in the text • The translator carries out the translation in compliance with the instructions given, carrying out all necessary research and using all means judged essential and the most apt linguistic form for the destination country. • The translator agrees not to use automatic translation software Proofreading 1 • The translator proofreads the translation by placing the source text side by side with the previously printed target text... • The translator checks punctuation, style and format • The translator ensures that the instructions or additional explanations that have been given to him during translation have been taken into account Proofreading 2 • The translator proofreads the target text without reference to the source text. • The translator verifies the syntax and carries out a spelling check. Consistency Check • The Project Manager makes a final comparison between the source and target texts and delivers the translation in accordance with the terms defined in the estimate
